Captain Horizon has been motoring on at 110mph, ever since the debut performance at the Old Wharf at the end of January this year. To date we’ve just done 20 gigs and have another 20+ booked from September up to Christmas. August sees a gig free month whilst holidays and recording at Vale Studios takes place. It’s all really exciting stuff. I’ve been working really hard on the website to get our Captain’s Club membership system finished and ready in time for when we hit the road back in September. We’ve been also writing and recording a load of new song ideas, I think we’ve roughly got about 20-ish songs that are now in our catalog. I’m really enjoying the fact I get to play on the drum kit at every practise with our lockup facility.

Drumming wise I think i’m in quite good form at the moment, i’ll be picking up Virgil Donati’s new double bass drum book soon along with Benny Greb’s interesting DVD. I plan to try and dedicate some more study on the drums when I get these! I’ve still got my TD3, but it’s been a little neglected since the start of the year as I’ve been able to play on my kit when ever I’ve wanted too.

I’m also going to the Reading Festival this year (thanks to Nicky ), I’m really excited. I’ve eyed up a few bands I would like to see too.

The house has also inherited a new member. Me and sam adopted a kitten from the cats home in Birmingham. We’ve got a little tabby named ‘Toby’, he is now just three months old and pretty much sleeps! (Well he does when I’m home!).

I’ve also purchased an iPhone. I’ve not had it long, so I can’t really go into to much depth on how the device is yet, but I will do shortly.

I think that’s enough now. Time for some Pizza.

Things have been pretty intense lately. Captain Horizon have now had a further two gigs under our belt, along with qualifying for the semi-finals of the banks’ battle of the bands. My birthday gig was awesome. I played three sets, the first with Captain Horizon, the second with the Ricardo Thompson Trio and finally one of my last performances with the RockHits. Valentines night the RockHits played at the Perfect in Pink ball, a charity gig for breast cancer. It was a wonderful night in which we chilled out all night, had a four course meal, before we then hit the stage to play some different tunes to what we usually do.

I’ve moved on from the RockHits now, in which was a quite low key exit, which is what I wanted. Not a fan of these big send off gigs.

I’ll be concentrating my efforts with Captain Horizon now, which is ultimately what  I want to be doing.

I’ve been at Codemasters for the last three weeks and I have to say, I’ve been enjoying it imensly. Working for the web team thus far has been awesome and I look forward to many of the exciting things we’ve got planned to do for the remainder of this year and for 2009. It’s still a novelty having someone in a design team who does ALL of your graphics. I was putting some parts of a page together opening photoshop, trying to cut out some of the graphics, then I realised, that someone had done it for me!

I also had the pleasure to endure the little speech and meeting in the COG online room celebrating the launch of the Lord of the Rings Online Mines of Moria expansion pack. You could see a lot of work had gone in to getting items ready for the launch and it was very refreshing to see people be apprecative of the work that goes on.

Band stuff has taken a little bit of a back seat this month as I settled into my new job. The RockHits have got a gig on the 28th November at the Black Horse (Gig number 30!), so I’m really looking forward to that as it’s been a while since I’ve played a gig.

ursaDomine are busy working hard in the lockup recording and writing. Currently looking to secure a gig for December to do our proper debut peformance which I am very much looking forward to.

Football Manager 2009 has eaten my soul. It’s to addictive and I cannot stop playing it. TITS.

Gig number 29 was done without a hitch at the Black Horse. It went rather well despite playing in the corner of the venue.

Recording with ursaDomine has been going well thus far and it’s sounding promising! Really am quite excited about the potential of the record.

So, this week, besides practise, I’m just counting down the days till I start my new job

So, gig number 28 of 2008 is going to be with the RockHits at the Roadhouse in Stirchley. The last couple of gigs went really well with Allucinere and the RockHits.

I’ve also got a new job, starting in November. Really looking forward to the new and exciting opportunity I’m going to have.

The new band have also decided on a name. Ursa Domine. It means something in latin, which I think will remain a secret.

Fifa09 was delivered last Friday and is simply awesome. PES2009 is out tomorrow and I think I might be purchasing that. Football Manager 2009 is also due out next month, again, can’t wait for that one!

This Saturday night I’m going to be playing at the Black Horse pub (near Aston University) with the RockHits, which I’m pretty much looking forward to.

It’s going to be my 25th gig this year. So if your bored on Saturday night and you’re not quite sure what you want to do, why not come and see us!

I managed to get my hands on the eagerly and much delayed game, SPORE. I’ve not had much time on it yet, but come the weekend I shall be ruling the world.

Football Manager 2009 was announced not so long ago, which included the surprise announcement that the match engine is going to have a 3D view. Awesome.

I also can’t wait to get home tonight as the Fifa09 demo has been released for the XBOX. I just hope either Fifa09 or PES2009 are good this year. Please.

Double Tom Setup!

The RockHits are going to play at the Roadhouse this Saturday night, which is going to be freaking awesome. As the Roadhouse website says, ‘arrive early to avoid disappointment‘.

Last Friday nights shenanigans down at the Shakespeare in Coventry went down really well. It’ was certainly hard work arranging and sorting out all of the extra gear, but it was brilliant. The place does have an awesome vibe.

Tonight I’m heading into the studio to do some more work on a new project which will be announced soon, it’s shaping up quite nicely at the moment.

Thursday I’ll be over in Coventry at the Shakespeare to see Ricardo Thompson strut his stuff with his acoustic material.

Really looking forward to this roadhouse gig, it promises to be an awesome night.

Found it quite hard going yesterday night in RockHits practise, pretty much due to myself playing quite a lot over the last few months. It’s been quite a test working 9:00-5:30 each day, then rushing off to a practise which demands quite a lot of energy, then to come home and get some sleep and repeat the process. Let alone fitting in the other things which I have to do in life. It’s all fun though and I wouldn’t exchange it for anything in the world.

This weekend is going to be pretty cool, I’ve got Richard, Andy & Ross all making a visit which is going contain vast amounts of Pro Evo, Guitar Hero, fast food and beer

A short notice gig up this Friday (number 22). The RockHits are doing a double headline with another covers band called Big Guns down at the Sheldon Marquee.

Not really much else to report on at the moment. Although I seem to have gotten a bug for retro gaming at the moment, so much so, that i’ve ordered the Rollercoaster Tycoon boxset, which includes the second and third versions with all of the expansion packs. :geek:

Not much else to report at the moment, although I’m slowly finding an outlet for all my creativeness with original songs, watch this space on that one. I’m quite excited about it.

The next gig on the cards is the 29th August at the Shakespear in Coventry. It’s going to be a nice little intimate gig I think.
